Jake Park’s Unique Perks
Jake Park, one of the original four Survivors in Dead by Daylight, offers three unique perks that can be unlocked for all other Survivors by Prestiging him. These perks are designed to enhance stealth and provide utility in sabotaging the Killer’s plans.
- Iron Will: This perk significantly reduces the grunts of pain caused by injuries. At its highest tier, it can reduce these grunts by up to 100%. This makes it much harder for the Killer to track an injured Jake by sound, allowing for quieter escapes and recoveries.
- Calm Spirit: Calm Spirit makes Jake less likely to alert woodland creatures, such as crows, by up to 100% at its highest tier. It also prevents Jake from screaming, even when he would normally be forced to do so. This perk is crucial for maintaining stealth and avoiding detection.
- Saboteur: Saboteur allows Jake to see the auras of Hooks within a 56-meter radius from a Survivor’s pickup spot when a Survivor is being carried. Crucially, it also grants the ability to sabotage Hooks without needing a toolbox. Sabotaging a Hook without a toolbox takes 2.5 seconds and has a cooldown time of up to 90 seconds, depending on the perk’s tier.
Successfully escaping a trial using only Jake’s three unique perks will earn players the Adept Jake Achievement.
Sabo Squad Leader Build
This build focuses on Jake’s ability to disrupt the Killer’s strategy by sabotaging hooks and monitoring their movements. It combines Jake’s unique Saboteur perk with other complementary abilities.
- Saboteur (Jake Park): As the cornerstone of this build, Saboteur allows Jake to see Hook auras when a Survivor is carried, enabling him to predict the Killer’s destination and sabotage Hooks before they can be used. The ability to sabotage without a toolbox frees up an item slot for other useful tools like a med-kit or flashlight.
- Breakdown (Jeff Johansen): When Jake is unhooked, this perk automatically breaks the hook he was on. Additionally, it reveals the Killer’s aura, regardless of their location. This helps prevent tunneling and provides crucial information for escaping immediately after being unhooked.
- Deliverance (Adam Francis): After safely unhooking another Survivor, Deliverance guarantees a successful self-unhook attempt for Jake’s next unhook. While this applies the Broken status effect for up to 100 seconds (preventing healing), it ensures a self-rescue. Combined with Breakdown, Jake can escape and gain distance while knowing the Killer’s position.
- Dark Sense: This perk allows Jake to see the Killer’s aura after each generator is completed. This provides ongoing information about the Killer’s whereabouts, helping Jake to plan hook sabotages, avoid chases, or assist teammates.
This build is designed for players who want to actively interfere with the Killer’s ability to secure kills and support their team through strategic hook denial and information gathering.
Stealthy Savant Build
Jake’s natural inclination for solitude and his unique perks make him an excellent stealthy Survivor. This build leverages his inherent quietness with other perks to create a highly elusive and supportive character.
- Inner Focus (Haddie Kaur): This perk allows Jake to see the scratch marks of his teammates. It also reveals the Killer’s aura if a Survivor loses a health state within a certain radius of Jake. This helps locate injured teammates for healing and tracks the Killer’s movements around them.
- Iron Will (Jake Park): A core component of this stealth build, Iron Will drastically reduces or even eliminates grunts of pain when injured. This makes it incredibly difficult for the Killer to follow Jake during a chase or find him if he’s slugged, allowing him to recover quietly.
- Bite The Bullet (Leon S. Kennedy): This perk ensures complete silence while healing oneself or other Survivors. When combined with Iron Will, Jake becomes almost imperceptible when injured and healing, making it challenging for the Killer to pinpoint his location based on sound. This synergizes well with Inner Focus, allowing Jake to quietly assist injured teammates.
- Calm Spirit (Jake Park): Rounding out the stealth build, Calm Spirit prevents Jake from alerting crows and suppresses screams. This ensures that Jake can move discreetly through the environment without giving away his position through environmental cues or forced vocalizations.
This build is ideal for players who prefer to avoid direct confrontation, move silently, and provide support to their team through discreet healing and information gathering.
Additional Perk Combinations
Beyond the core builds, Jake Park can also benefit from other perk combinations that enhance specific aspects of his gameplay.
-
The Saboteur Jake Build: This variation focuses heavily on hook sabotaging and totem interaction.
- Resilience: Increases action speeds for repairing, healing, sabotaging, unhooking, vaulting, cleansing, opening, and unlocking by up to 9% when Jake is injured. This speeds up sabotaging actions.
- Iron Will: Reduces grunts of pain by up to 75% when injured, aiding in stealth while performing actions.
- Saboteur: Provides hook aura visibility and toolbox-free hook sabotaging.
- Small Game: Gives an auditory warning when looking in the direction of totems within a 45-degree cone, making it easier to find and cleanse them. The detection cone narrows as more totems are cleansed.
-
Decisive & Run Jake Build: This build is geared towards evading the Killer and surviving chases, particularly useful for newer players.
- Adrenaline: Activates when the Exit Gates are powered, instantly healing one health state and providing a 5-second sprint burst at 150% normal running speed. It ignores existing Exhaustion but causes it.
- Decisive Strike: After being unhooked, this perk allows Jake to escape the Killer’s grasp by succeeding a Skill Check if grabbed or picked up within 40-60 seconds. It stuns the Killer for 3 seconds but deactivates if conspicuous actions are performed or after stunning the Killer.
- Dead Hard: Triggers the Endurance status effect for 1 second by pressing the active ability button while running, allowing Jake to take a hit without going down. It causes the Exhausted status effect.
- Iron Will: Reduces grunts of pain by up to 75% when injured, making it harder for the Killer to follow during a chase.
